Cuisinart Overstuffed Sandwich Maker

Ordered this on March 25, had it on the 27th. Wow-fast shipping. This is well made, heavier than other sandwich makers. The different heat settings are great, also the removable plates. The corn dogs stuck but they were the the first thing I made,I'm thinking I didn't get the plates oiled enough.Egss with bacon & cheese came out fine, so did the ham salad cheese wraps. This is going to stay out on the counter, I think I will be using it everyday.

Product performs very well
Date: 2008-06-30 | Rating: 5
The only issue I had when using the product was when I used a 'butter' spray on the bread rather than actual butter or margarine. The lower level slice of bread came out slightly soggy. This may have been due to the moisture in the lunch meat and other items I had between the slices of bread. The top slice of bread was toasted perfectly. I've also used package pizza dough in this machine. There is a recipe included in the instruction booklet that is for this type of dough, but I just used my own ingredients for the stuffing. It turned out fantastic. I would highly recommend this product.

Love it so far
Date: 2008-06-04 | Rating: 5
My main reason for buying this sandwich maker was that clean up in my old model was becoming very difficult, with grease trapped between the plates etc. With a large family I don't have time to fuss over cleaning things. This one is great, the plates pop out and go in the dishwasher. The pockets are really big, so lots of possibilities....So far the sandwiches have been great, but we have only had it a couple of weekes.

Tiny titan of a sandwich maker
Date: 2007-12-14 | Rating: 5
Tasty pockets of goodness are delivered hot and steamy by this Cuisinart. I cook up all sorts of culinary delights with this tiny titan of a sandwich maker. Corn bread is one of my favs, and they're the size of my fist, which is great for a bread lovers like me. You can get as creative or as simple as you want. Of course, filling a sandwich up with all types of cheeses and meats, then getting a warm toasty treat in minutes, is its primary operation in my kitchen. I'm thinking it would work well in an office, too. Cuisinart's sandwich maker is easy enough for the challenged cook, yet, sophisticated enough for the seasoned foodie. Highly recommended.

Product Description
The Cuisinart Non-Stick Grilling Basket is the ideal tool to help cook fish, seafood, vegetables and other delicate foods that may fall through your grill grate. Fill the basket with your favorite fish filets and sliced vegetables and lock it in place. No more worries about your filet falling apart on the grill when you turn it. Just grab the elongated heat-resistant handle and turn. The professional grade non-stick wires ensure your food won't stick - even if you are grilling the most delicate fish filets or the thinnest sliced vegetables. And since your food won't stick to the wires, clean-up is a breeze.

Customer Reviews

Very Poor Design
Date: 2010-01-09 | Rating: 1
I bought this product primarily to cook fish on the grill. There were two problems with this basket that led me to send it back without ever using it. First, the tines that make up the basket are spaced too far apart - so less dense fish (think talapia) would easily fall through - as would smaller pieces of vegetables. The 2nd problem was the way the basket closed - which made it very likely for the user to get fingers smashed during closure. I have a cast iron basket with much smaller holes that just sits on top of the grill - and I will just continue to use that for fish and vegetables unless I find a better quality version of this type of basket. Great idea - but poor design.

Great pan!
Date: 2008-04-26 | Rating: 5
I just got my grill pan today and made grilled chicken in it tonight for dinner. The chicken came out tender, juicy, and perfectly cooked with beautiful grill marks in significantly less time than it takes to cook chicken in the oven. I did not have any problems with splattering, and I love the red color! I've been wanting a grill pan for a while now and I'm glad I picked this one!

Nice Grill Pan
Date: 2008-02-20 | Rating: 3
Excellent quality and weight. Needs to be a little deeper to avoid splatter of cooking oil. Pan is 1 1/4 inch deep. I would recommend a grill pan that is a little deeper to avoid mess.

My food keeps sticking to this pan
Date: 2008-06-30 | Rating: 2
I have used it 3 or 4 times. I have cooked chicken, steak and fish. They all stick to the pan and tear off that outer-layer that is seasoned. It's very frustrating. I do not recommend this. I will not use it again.

Customer Reviews

Green Gourmet is the best non-stick I've ever used.
Date: 2010-01-04 | Rating: 5
This griddle is exactly what I was looking for - it heats evenly, it's lightweight, it fits exactly over two burners, and it's got a cutout on one corner to pour out the grease. The ceramic cooking surface is very non-stick and stays that way over time. Do not use non-stick sprays (not that you need them), as they will leave a residue over time that's impossible to clean up. Using only a small amount of butter or oil, all of my Green Gourmet pans are as clean and non-stick as they were when I bought them. Cuisinart says they're dishwasher safe, but I've never seen the need to do so; they've never needed more than a few wipes with a soapy sponge to get completely clean.

The best pan ever!
Date: 2010-01-23 | Rating: 5
No fan of teflon, we got a small saute pan of this brand and loved it. The grill is a bit of an investment, so we wanted to try out the coating first - which is amazing. Cuisinart has managed to make a non-stick (truly, it's NO stick) coating that holds up to utensils, higher heat, and the stickiest of foods without missing a beat. Love the coating!! The grill fits across two burners, and because of the base materials, maintains an even heat without significant a gap between them. We've cooked eggs without butter, grilled sandwiches, made pancakes, and even melted grated cheese, and everything slips easily away. The raised edge is nice too, in case you did want to add oil/butter/grease, and the corner spout makes it easy to get rid of. A+ to Cuisinart!

Rip off - don't buy it!
Date: 2009-12-14 | Rating: 1
I bought this griddle and within 3 months it is unusable - reside builds up. Amazon won't take it back and Cuisinart (the manufacturer) won't take it back. I called them to find out how to better clean it and that did not work. Please don't waste your money. The nonstick doesn't work.

Replacement Part

I dropped the part and needed a replacement and now my grill is as good as NEW

Cuisinart probe
Date: 2009-10-27 | Rating: 3
The Cuisinart GG-2PR Probe from Amazon is the exact product and brand name carried on Cuisinart web site for less money. Shipping was quick and on time so I have no complaints there. The problem I have is not with Amazon but with the product itself. It is not made of material that is heat resistant over a reasonable period of time. The control knob is made of plastic that will become brittle and break after so much use which means you have to buy another probe or throw away the griddle. They should have designed a heat shield to stop the heat transfer from the griddle to the probe.

Regarding the Cuisinart Probe Temperature Control Knob for Grill/Griddle Combo
Date: 2009-12-16 | Rating: 3
The griddle/grill combo is absolutely excellent and makes perfect pancakes every time! Steaks come off nice and pink inside and seared outside. I wish the reading on the probe was the temperature though and not just low, med, high & sear. Also, not sure whether or not we got a malfuctioning probe to begin with or not, but we had to order a replacement becuase the previous one literally fell apart and the cord would get hot where it was plugged into an outlet. Now that we have the replacement, the griddle and grill work as good as new and I love this appliance as well as most other Cuisinart products that I own!

Not Happy!!!
Date: 2009-09-25 | Rating: 1
This is the third one of these I'll have purchased, (counting the one which came with the grill). I love the grill or I'd throw the whole thing out. The first two just fell apart. We didn't mistreat them, drop them or anything. The first one the knob broke and before we noticed it the grill over heated. The second one the silver strip on the top of the knob became loose and fell off. Then the knob broke again. I'll buy a third one, treat it like it's made of glass. It's really sad. Tim

LOVE IT!

I bought this grill last week & it is WONDERFUL! Every time we make something to eat we think about grilling it. Last night we made grilled stuffed burritos. They were GREAT! Better than any we have eaten anywhere. I love the temp dials. Having the on/off dial is great. I can leave it pluged in & turn it on as needed. I looked for a few months before I decided on this one. I am sooooo glad I did. Hope you all enjoy yours as much as we do.

I am ashamed to admit it, but I love this product in the kitchen. I seldom use the stove any more as you can do just about anything with the griddler, and with less kitchen mess, except brew coffee. Great for lightning fast bacon, grilled meats, french toast, panini sandwiches, and other things I have yet to discover. Hate cleaning a messy stove and this can save a couple, or single person, lots of time in the kitchen.

Great multi-function appliance

We've had this about two weeks now and like it a lot. Two of my favorite sandwichs for lunch are Reubens and Cubans. This was one of the main reasons for buying the Griddler. I had to tell my wife we could get rid of the George Foreman and an electric griddle before it could come into the house. So far I've made paninis for all of us, Reubens for the oldest boy and me, Cubans for my wife and me, burgers for all, and pancakes for all. The unit does appear well built and the 3 year warranty suggests Cuisinart has confidence in it. It heats up fast and, contrary to another review, the top and bottom seem to be very close in heat. After having the George Foreman for years and struggling to clean it without getting it wet the pop off dishwasher safe plates are a joy and were another big plus with my wife. The exterior of the top does get hot and could burn you if you're not careful. As long as you just use the big handle to open and close the top you won't have any problem. The heating is a little uneven on both plates when using it as a griddle but not so much it's an issue. The heatings going to be a little uneven on any consumer grade counter top electric griddle. I can't attest to the longevity of the product but so far we are pleased with it and would buy it again or recommend it to others.

Needs some improvement.........

I've owned the Cuisinart Griddler for quite some time now. It's great for sandwiches, re-heating pizza slices etc. The only drawback that I can see is the fact that even though the grease drains away from meats, I still find it a problem grilling hamburgers or steaks. The immediate countertop surface right around the grill ends up with a fine mist of grease from the spattering of the meat while grilling. I've tried grilling at lower temperatures but still have the same problem. It appears since the grease particles can't go up, they go out to the sides. Not a fun thing to clean, grease on granite. Other than that, it's been a handy kitchen appliance.

Very handy

I have used mine quite a few times - I cook vegetables, and the best thing is to buy a Cuban sandwich from the grocery store deli - then grill it at home - half at a time. It is also great for a steak and grilled broccoli. Love it.

Grilling with Style

These utensils are very cool. The sets have everything you need for prepping food, cooking it, and cleaning the grill. I purchased a set for my father's birthday. The tools are substantial, with comfortable contoured grips. The spatula is HUGE -- great for steaks and big burgers, and it has a fun bottle opener in the handle. The tongs are curved so that you can use them to scoop marinade. The basting brush has a removable head with drip cap which is good for avoiding messes. He puts them in the dishwasher with no problems. These are much better than the old-style wooden handled ones. The sets would make great father's day presents or gifts for any discerning BBQ chef. My dad will be using them all summer and bringing them to tailgates in the fall! The black carry case makes a great impression and provides a useful storage container. Best BBQ set I have ever purchased

Needed to buy a BBQ set for my new grill. I found this Cuisinart Master grill set. I know that Cuisinart makes great products, so I bought it. When it arrived, I was amazed by the quality of the set. It has all the tools I need to grill anything that you could think of. All the tools are high quality stainless steel. and the handles are very comfortable. They are also dishwasher safe which is so convenient. Each tool has really useful features that are integrated into the tools, like a bottle opener, serated edges, grease channels, etc. I will definitely buy other Cuisinart grilling products as gifts for my family.

Classy set, impressive gift

This set makes a statement. The carry case is impressive and holds all of the tools in a descreet easy to store way. Previously my obnoxiously large grill tools have been in random cabinets taking up space. The box easily stores away when not in use. I gave this set as an engagement gift and it was a huge hit. The tools are nicely contoured and easy to use. They fit comfortably in your hand with soft grips. A great value.

I bought a new grill so I want to have a new set to go with it. I decided to get this Cuisinart griiling tools set becuase of the Cuisinart brand and it totally worth the money. It has a nice leather case and come with all the tools taht you need. I like the design of the handle with nice soft grip. I am glad that I did not get another 18pcs set with red color wood handles that are not comfortable to use, useless corn holders that with a tiny handles that burn your hands when you try to pick them up from the grill and a cheap looking green plastic case like a power drill set. I am going to get another set for my uncle's birhtday. I know he will like it because he like to show off......

Be Careful Of Cuisinant

Cuisinart 6-Piece Master Grill Tool Set I purchased this set and had a question on how to change the head on the Cleaning Brush. I e-mailed my inquiry from Cusinart's website. Next morning I got a phone message to call Acme. This I did. They knew nothing about the tool set. I called Cuisinant's customer relations dept. They didn't even know it was on sale from their web site. 5 phone calls later to various phone numbers and departments I gave up. The last call I made was back to the customer relations department where I asked to speak with a supervisor. I was told that I couldn't but I would be tranfered to the kitchen gadget department and I would get help there. You guessed it, I was back speaking to the nice lady at Acme.

Priceless
Date: 2009-05-01 | Rating: 5
I live in a small downtown unit in San Francisco, so anything that takes up space has to earn it's living. This unit is now the only "oven" I use, and it's wonderful. I see many complain about how long it takes to "heat up," but that's a misunderstanding of using convection heat. Just put whatever you want to cook in the oven--cakes, breads, lasagna, etc.--and it will cook as the oven heats. Because of the convection, there are no "hot spots" and nothing will burn. The only adjustment is the cooking time, but that can be gauged with a little practice. Easy to clean, makes wonderful toast, pies, fresh breads and roast cuts of meat.... I don't know what I'd do without this. The microwave is very flexible and easy to use with many different choices on the control panel.

This is a great Microwave I used this to cook during Thanksgiving day and Christmas and proved to be a great microwave it truly did get the job done I use it alot for normal microwave uses but again for the oven it is great. It is made out of stainless steel which I found pretty nice especially on my metal counter top and the size was reasonable for a microwave not to big nor too small would buy again if it would to break down

Great microwave

This is one great oven. I bought it at the last minute for a Christmas present. It works great. We made cookies, and bread first off just to see if this thing would work. It did!!! Only issue I have is for high temp items (425 deg.) it takes quite a bit of time to heat up.

Food in the unit before you choose preheat convection
Date: 2010-01-09 | Rating: 4
Great idea I went out and got frozen french fries. Tried no preheat convection and after 15 minutes they weren't done and cooked another 5 minutes. Another batch I went with preheat and the temp at 425 as suggested and put the fries in the oven at the start of the preheat cycle. By the time it hit 425 the fries were done. I never did set the time. You are not allowed to set the time before the temp preheat is reached. At that rate if they are not quite done then you add more time through what they call kitchen time. there's heat exhausting out the back that I wish would stay in the oven heating it up faster. However I don't know how convection ovens heat themselves. Tried the idea of turning on the grill for 2 minutes then going to convection. It did not seem to speed things up any. I am not unhappy. I've gotten three appliances off my counter and put the Cuisinart on top of the stove. Heat is an issue in the southwest so I have never used my gas pilot stove. The microwave works exactly as I expected. The grill has three settings. 100% grilling, 30% micro plus 70% grill, and 55% micro plus 45% grill. I haven't enjoyed steak at home for years so this I am really looking forward to. Fishsticks I'm going to try 30/70. Roasting and baking have a fast setting which combines micro and convection, you can go straight convection too. I would buy it again because the price is right, it microwaves great and grills. I never was an oven baker so few times I may preheat convection will be very seldom. Right now I'm going to look for a rack utensil that I can use in both oven and microwave. I'm sure after a learning curve that I will be preheat convection cooking and adding minutes after the oven acquires the set temp to finish my cooking. Everything is possible.

Convection oven is useless

We bought this microwave oven because it also has a convection oven. The oven takes a VERY long time to heat up. Example: 350 degrees takes 35 minutes 425 degrees took over an hour In contrast my regular electric (full size) oven takes 8 minutes to reach 425 Our old Panasonic microwave/convection oven took 15 minutes to reach 425 This machine was supposed to be a time saver, but we hardly ever use the convection setting as it takes too long to warm up. We find we now have an overpriced microwave oven. We could have got a much larger microwave (without convection) for the price we paid for this. My advice - steer well clear of this machine unless you don't need the convection oven - in which case you are better off getting a cheaper model. I wish I had read the other reviews before I bought this machine. The only good point is you can use the glass turntable on convection mode - our old Panasonic required you swap out a metal turntable whenever you wanted to convection cook, which was a real pain having to store the other turntable. However, you are unlikely to use the convection mode unless you remember to heat the oven an hour before you actually use it. I presume all this heating time is wasteful too, so using the full size oven for much less warmup time may work out better value...

Easy to use Grill with Superior Cooking Capabilities
Date: 2009-06-09 | Rating: 5
I just got this grill...it's a state of the art tabletop grill. The grill is already put together, so it's essentially ready to be used "out of the box". The grill is very light, so it's efficiently portable and easy to carry. It can fit on small or large tables and comes with a stainless steel veggie plate that is great for cooking vegetables, kabob's etc. It's got a easy to attach catch pan dipper that just slides on under bottom of the grill. The grill starts immediately (push and turn to light the burner) and the heat comes on quick; the temperature gauge on the top is very accurate and allows superior cooking capabilities, which is the best part of this grill. i cooked chicken the first night i got the grill, and it came out perfectly. For those of you using Weber or other more commercial grills, I'd recommend looking at this. I use to have a weber, used for tailgates etc - this grill is 10 times better and reasonably priced for it's quality.

Works as well as it looks

Just got this grill 2 weeks ago, and already have used it several times. It heats up very quickly. Takes 5 minutes to get up to 500 degrees. It is very easy to start. Just push in and turn. Lights on the first try everytime. It has enameled cast iron grate for very even heating. The amount of food that you can put on this grill is surprising. I fit 10 burgers and 4 hot dogs on at once. The temperature gauge is great as it tells me the exact temperature, so I am able to time my food. Another good thing is this comes with a stainless steel veggie platter which is great for cooking vegetables and small pieces of meat and fish. Also, comes with a $20 Omaha Steak gift card, so the first couple of BBQ's are free. Easy to clean up and side shelves fold in for easy storage. This is a great grill for every day cooking as well as taking on trips.

Outstanding and Energy Efficient Grill for City Dwellers, Family Cooking, or Tailgaters

I have enjoyed two tasty meals on the Cuisinart gas grill as a result of not only good food but also a superior product. The Tabletop Gas Grill cooked my food to perfection because of high heating and consistent temperatures. The Cuisinart CGG-200 which is compact (no bulky propane gas tank) and light (35 pounds) was perfect during one of my meals at a city apartment. There were only 5 of us and the grill was a perfect size. Additionally, the grill lights up with a turn of the knob. I didn't have to press any buttons or light any matches to ignite the flames. During my other use of the grill, 13 teammates from a summer league cooked out and enjoyed the grilling experience. The stainless steel cover and temperature gauge is cool looking and the "grilldozer" accessory is a must have for any guy!!

Lots of Bang for the Bucks!!!
Date: 2009-07-08 | Rating: 5
As other reviewers have stated, this is a lot of grill for a portable. It heats up quickly and the cast iron grate produces those 'killer grill marks' that are the signature of any grillmaster. A couple of things about the grill that aren't mentioned: the grate is reversible. Why would you want to do this? On one side, the bars of the grate come to a point, like an inverted 'V'. This is fine for steaks and more 'solid' foods. If you turn the grate over, the surface is flat and wider. If you are grilling burgers or delicate foods, it is easier to get a spatula under the food for easy turning. One other point: You can attach a hose to the grill and use your 20lb. propane tank. I called Cuisinart and they confirmed that you could do this if you made sure that the connections were free of leaks. This ensures that you will always have plenty of fuel (if you check the tank or have a pressure gauge) when you need it and can grill for longer times. I am pretty much of a charcoal person but this one was too good to pass up. The weather has been just awful here and though it says that we are in the summer season, it just continues to rain and rain.... The yard is a swamp even when the sun does make a rare appearance so I just place the Cuisinart on the picnic table and in a couple of minutes, we are ready to grill. I really can't say enough about how well this one is built and more importantly, how it performs. Even the stainless veggie tray is a recognition by the manufacturer that people's tastes go beyond traditional grill fare. In short...buy it...it's a bit pricey for a portable but in this case, it is true that 'you'll only cry once'!

Throw another shrimp on the barbie!

I live on the second floor of an apartment complex and was looking for a portable grill to use on my balcony. I have owned several "table top" grills, but none have been as high quality as this beauty. It is made with the best materials and comes almost fully assembled. All you need to do is attach the stand with four screws...takes roughly 6 minutes. It is easy to transport by using the carry handles and the side tables fold in when not in use. I recently brought this on a camping trip and was able to feed 13 people for 4 days on only 2 cylinders of propane. Talk about some happy campers! I would buy this again in a second and once people see it for themselves, they instantly want one. I also recommend the custom grill cover to keep it in pristine condition...for 20 extra dollars, its a no brainer. Cuisinart did it again with another excellent product. The price may seem high, but I am confident that this grill will be with me for many seasons to come.
