Versatile compact counter top grill and griddle
Date: 2007-12-14 | Rating: 5
Griddle cakes and sausage, grilled salmon and vegetables, grilling burgers and toasting buns, the Cuisinart GR55 is a versatile compact counter top grill and griddle. The two double sided cooking plates are Teflon coated steel; they're easy to install and remove, and because the plates are non-stick and removable, they're a fast clean. I enjoy the fact can use both grill and griddle at the same time. This is great for cooking for my family, too, because it has plenty of grill surface. The plates always heat up evenly and quickly, and the temperature control gives me a ridiculous amount of control over my food's preparation. The excess grease, when using the grill side of things, runs off into a collection troth that neatly hides and stores inside the grill between the two plates. When releasing the spring-loaded plates from the grill, the rest grease gets collected in the troth as well. It's great to pull out on a lazy Saturday morning or for a quick meal before going out. I'm thoroughly impressed.

Nice Grill.

We bought this to replace a 10-year old Hamilton-Beach that died on us. It cooks evenly and well. We grilled sliced summer squash, and each piece browned the same, no matter whether it was: in the center or at the far edge. Steak seared nicely, and cooked well. It's not as hot as a gas or charcoal grill, but then the Cancer Society is warning people about cooking meat at too high a temperature. The best part is that the heating element is separate from the grill plates, and the plates fit nicely in the lower rack of our dish washer; that and the included scraping tool make clean-up a snap.

Great Indoor Grill
Date: 2009-02-02 | Rating: 5
I first bought a Cuisinart GR-4 Gridder .But the instructions were absoulutly horrible(and I am a lawyer and know the art of understanding the written word). Also thte thing was bulky and awkward with the hinged top. So I sent it back and bought the GR-55 Gridder combo. Glad I did and wonder why I did not own one of these much sooner. Instructions are very easy to understand, everything is intuitive in the operation, and it is very compact given the size of the cooking area. Grill plates are reversable so you can grill or griddle or any combination of the two. Heat is excellent and although I use it on top of our glass top stove, with the vent on low-I do not think I really need the vent. It is as close to smokless as I could hope for. Clean up is effortless . I have done skinless chicken, tenderloin steaks grilled cheese sandwiches, vegtables , shrimp and scallops and everything has turned out perfect. I would highly recommend this model Cuisinart indoor grill and in fact am thinking of getting one for my son. Only thing I would caution about is that heat up takes a few minuets longer than I am used to on my outdoor grill and be sure to give it plenty of time to cool down before you try to remove the grill plates for cleaning.

Ideal for small kitchen counters

I am a full timer with my motorhome. The griddler combo is great, as it repalced my grill and griddler allowing more counter space. Recommend for RV's, boats and small apartments, great looking with no skid bottom.

Perfect for pancakes AND grilled salmon.
Date: 2008-10-03 | Rating: 5
I haven't had an electric griddle for years. However, we were having trouble getting the temperature regulated so that blueberry pancakes would turn out consistently cooked through at high elevations. I ordered this and it worked perfectly for pancakes. I also set it out on a porch and cooked salmon one night on the ridged side. the salmon was also perfect.

Better than the Calaphon one I bought
Date: 2007-02-19 | Rating: 5
This is (unfortunately) my second griddle. The Caliphon one I bought origionally turned out to stick like crazy. This was my fault, apparently, since I didin't read the fine print. This griddle is exceptional. In the first place, it doesn't stick which is a must for a griddle. I am not a "professional" chef/cook so all I care about is a tool that works well without a lot of "preparation" or "conditioning". This griddle heats uniformily, the handle does NOT get hot, and it DOES NOT stick. In addition, you can use metal tools with it without harming it. Cuisinart got it right with this griddle. One of the "best kept secrets" of the culinary world in my view.

Great Quality & Price

After doing a ton of research, I've found the perfect non-stick cookware. I actually purchased the whole set of Cuisinart non-stick cookware. It's a great product with a good name behind it. So far, so good.

I love this pan!
Date: 2008-11-04 | Rating: 5
I've had this pan for 2 years now and use it several times a week. It has held up better than any other non-stick pan I've ever had - no chipping or peeling (I only hand wash it). It cleans up easily - nothing sicks! It cooks evenly for me. I've had no problems with it and would highly recommend it!

Great for eggs, bacon, pancakes.

I purchased this because of it's brand name and it lives up to all my expectations. It's wonderful for French Toast or anything to be grilled stovetop. It's strong, durable and lives up to the Cuisinart reputation! It cleans easily and stores easily. I recommend this grill.

Great Little Griddle
Date: 2008-10-27 | Rating: 5
We have had the 10" griddle for 2 weeks. My husband uses it almost every morning. How do I clean it? Rinse it out with a little dish soap! This is the best piece of non-stick cookware I have ever owned. It is so much better than the old Teflon, and easier on the environment. 07-24-09: Here's an update, Gang. We have two of these now, and they are still going strong. Do not put these in the dishwasher. My son made that mistake, and ruined his little griddle.

Great pan
Date: 2009-03-20 | Rating: 5
Love it...non-stick and "green". Treated as suggested, seems completely impervious to scratching. Hope it lasts for the long haul.

Actually Browns More Evenly Than Cast Iron
Date: 2008-09-06 | Rating: 5
Initial Internet posting were wrong about these green ceramic pans. The glazed-like surface can be heated quite hot to brown (even blacken) steaks and toasted cheese sandwiches. The hard annodized surface heats way more evenly than cast iron. I also love the Analon Allure series which has a hard "marble" glaze surface on the exterior but a Teflon derivative inside. Since unsealed hard anodized aluminum stains over time, the ideal pan would have the Cuisinart ceramic interior and the Allure marble finish outside. Until then, this is my primary cooking pan. I got mine after it was marked down $10 and then used a 20% off coupon. This skillet works great with a common 10" high dome lids, unlike the non-standard sized 10 1/2" cast iron skillets.

A Great Pan for Cooking
Date: 2008-10-25 | Rating: 5
I got this pan as a gift through a thank you program at work. I picked it because I liked the idea that the non-stick surface is procelain based instead of petroleum based. I had gotten a traditional non-stick pan too hot a few years back and the stink it caused in my apartment was horrendous, gave me a wicked bad headache and lingered for days. I also liked the idea if I wanted to move the pan from my stove top into my oven, I could if needed. I've made eggs, grilled cheese, toasted hot dog and hamburger buns, and cooked sausages on it. I love how well it heats up and I like the fact that you don't have to use much oil at all on this pan. The only thing I haven't tried is moving it from the stovetop in to the oven. Even though I love the one All-Clad Pan I have (and want more), I've asked my boyfriend to get the rest of the skillets for my Christmas Gift. I'm that impressed with this product.

Better than "Green Pans"
Date: 2009-08-09 | Rating: 5
As a chef for over 40 years,I appreciate a great pan, this is "a great pan." The non-stick proporties are the best I have ever used and it last. I have Green Pans and they were very good when new, but with time the non-stick lost it properties. The price/value of this pan is unbelievable, try one, I know you will not be disappointed.

Very handy for cooking small meals
Date: 2010-01-01 | Rating: 5
When my husband deployed I needed to find a quick and easy way to feed myself and my children. A friend of mine had a griddler and I decided it might be the answer. It was!!! I was able to grill chicken, turkey, steak, and even fish. And while it doesn't hold a candle to the flavor of a good old charcoal grill, it was quick, tasty, and easy to clean. I was able to grill the veggies on this (namely asparagus) and had only one kitchen item to clean. To be honest, I haven't tried the griddle plates, only the grill plates. My kids were well fed during his absence and this healthy style of cooking allowed me to lose 25 lbs before he returned. I am a fan!!!

Great Griddle
Date: 2010-01-07 | Rating: 5
Improvements over previous model are the reversable grill plates that snap in and out very easily and now you do not have 2 extra plates to store somewhere. The grease catch pan is integrated into the bottom and removes very easily for cleaning. Cleanup is a snap: take off the 2 grill plates and they wash and cleanup so easy I don't bother putting them in the dishwasher. Clean the drip tray and you are done. Fast & easy. I disagree with those that say it is great for cooking small meals or for a small family. It cooks the meat so fast, you better not walk away. First thing I cooked were good sized hamburgers & they were at 180° in 5 minutes. The next 4 were perfectly cooked at 4 minutes. Used the Sear setting per the instruction book with the grill preheated. New York Strip sirloins were done in 3 1/2 to 4 minutes on the Sear setting. Fast cooking & the meat is eye appealing with the grill marks on both sides. Batch number 3 will be pork chops tonight. Granted, it doesn't quite do the job my Weber grill does outside, but when it is 15 below zero, the Griddler is very nice to have for indoor winter usage. Great indoor grill, cooks fast, easy cleanup... I highly recommend it.

Cuisinart makes high quality products & this is another one!

I have been looking for a quality multifunctional griddle and was ecstatic when I found this one! A lot of options packed into this griddler and getting 40% off sealed the deal. Pros: -compact when closed therefore easy to store. -heats quickly and evenly. -makes the best paninis I've ever had; crisp on the outside. -grilling inside when the weather outside is bad is a huge plus. -can grill open or closed depending on how much I need to make and the type of food. -the lid conforms to the thickness of the food. -easy to clean. -drip tray catches every bit of grease. -because of the multiple options it replaces several older and bulkier appliance I had. Cons: -can't think of any.

CUSINART GR-4NAM GRIDDLER
Date: 2010-01-24 | Rating: 4
I purchased this for a Christmas gift. It is well made and it cooks great but.... As other reviews complained about, the drip tray was not designed to catch any drippings, you'll have more on the counter than the tray. I am very surprised that the price Cuisinart charges for their products that they would have better Q&A testing before the product is put on the shelves. As for Amazon, I give them a 5 star for their reliability on shipping the product on time and in perfect condition.

Consider it disposable
Date: 2010-01-08 | Rating: 1
I was happy with the Cuisinart GR-4 Gridller, until the thermostat stopped working 3 days after the warranty expired. Cuisinart told me the product was not designed to be repaired and that I should throw it out and buy another one. If you're happy to buy one under those conditions, it will make great panini for a while.

It's large enough to handle two large sandwiches or 3-4 boneless chicken breasts. Both sides cook evenly. The floating lid adapts well to different thicknesses. It's easy to clean even though the plates aren't removable. Be sure to let it cool down before moving it. Many outside surfaces get hot

The Cuisinart is extremely easy to clean, cooks faster than "George" and performs as advertised. As a matter of fact, we bought five more as this years Christmas gifts for our 5 children!!

I bought one of these for my sister in law for christmas last 2 years ago and she absolutely loves it. She takes it everywhere with her including on vacation. It heats up quickly and cleans up very well. The cooking space is also sufficient to get several panini's done at the same time. Great product and always available at a great price.

I have had a Wolfgang Puck Panini grill with removable plates and I didn't like the way they cooked. The top didn't cook as hot as the bottom so I had to flip things. Also, the plates in the dishwasher tend to rust. I'm going back to non-removable plates. Just a thought for those of you who think they're a good deal. I had a WP also w/o removable plates and the cleanup is worth it to me.

Grill Pan Review

Since my old outdoor grill was recently retired, & this is not the time of the year to purchase a new one, I decided to buy this pan instead. I have to say that it does as good a job at grilling meat as my gas barbeque did. It grills vegetables & fish perfectly. Overall, I am very pleased with this item & would highly recommend it.

Nonstick cooking plates eliminate the need for added butter or oil. Looks great and stores easily! Model WM-SW2. Manufacturers limited three-year warranty.

Amazon.com Review
Lunch takes on a whole new dimension with this sandwich grill. Layer cheese, tuna, veggies, mushrooms, or whatever is desired between slices of bread, set on the deep-pocket grill, and close and lock the lid. Sandwiches come out perfectly browned and sealed, with a diagonal indentation making them easy to slice in half. The grill cooks one or two sandwiches at a time, and also turns out waffles and omelets. The nonstick finish keeps food from sticking, although a little butter or oil also helps. A red light comes on when the grill is plugged in and heating up; a green light announces the grill is ready to use. To clean, simply wipe off the grill plates when cool. The grill measures 9 by 9 by 3-1/2, and is covered by a three-year warranty against defects. --Ann Bieri

Great Little Appliance!

This little appliance makes a perfect grilled cheese in less time and with less mess than using a skillet. Plus, it makes omelettes, french toast and more. Great buy for a terrific and compact little machine.

Buy this immediately.

I worried that I'd stick this back in the closet next to the smoothie maker and the bread machine. But it sits on our counter and is used nearly every day. The teenagers love it because they can whip up two sandwiches at a time and wolf them down while they cook two more. And the sandwiches cook quickly. Red light means cooking, green light means done. No guesswork! The hardest part about it is getting the kids to stop using up all the bread in one day.Worth every penny.

This really is a surprisingly funky little gadget that is getting a lot more use than I thought it would get when I ordered it on an impulse on a Friday sale. I agree with all the five star reviewers, not to repeat anything, but to give it another vote of confidence - if you enjoy grilled cheese sandwiches, you really can't go wrong with this little gadget. (For a fancy treat, try a sandwhich with bakery crafted hard crusted Italian bread and havarti-dill cheese - yumm!)

Good quality, modern look...

For the price you'll get a solid sandwich grill that looks good too. Unlike others in the same price range, it doesn't look "plastic-y". Serves my need at a bargain price. Plus I used a coupon from UnderTag.com, so it was almost free for me too.

A must have for the grilled sandwich lover

Grill sandwiches to perfection in minutes. Much faster than using the stove. It seals the fillings into the sandwich, making for less messy eating. A quick wipe with a paper towel and the grill is clean. I use mine all the time!

I just bought my Griddler Jr. yesterday - and tried it out. It's very well made, and my panini sandwiches turned out great. It can also be opened flat to use a a regular grill. The best thing though - is that the grill plates are removable - for easy cleanup.

Perfect (single sandwich) size, and just about fool-proof

I'd been looking at panini grills for years, but had never found the perfect model. Many of the grills I looked at in stores seemed very cheap and poorly built. One clear exception was the Cuisinart grill, which was very well constructed, but it was very expensive and also very large. When I saw this new Cuisinart Junior, I decided to take the plunge. It has become the hit of our kitchen. Making fancy grilled sandwiches has become a highlight of our weekends. My teenage kids love the sandwiches off the grill, and they don't seem to notice that they're eating healthier than before. The quality of panini sandwiches off this little grill is far superior to the paninis we get at our local restaurants. Here are the features that make this grill a winner for me: - The grill plates really are nonstick. I've never had to do more than wipe them clean, even when drippings seem to have burned on. The plates remove super easily, and also snap back in very easily. - The grill pre-heats very quickly. I turn it on before I start making the sandwich, and it's always hot enough by the time the sandwich is assembled. - The grill always creates the perfectly grilled panini. When I used to make grilled sandwiches in a frying pan, getting them perfectly grilled without burning was hit or miss. With this grill, I just set the dial a bit shy of medium and every sandwich comes out perfectly grilled. - The hinged lid let's us make fairly huge sandwiches (a few inches thick). This might not sound like a big deal, but it's key to having fun with the grill, since it let's you make creative sandwiches that you could never cook all the way through or flip in a frying pan. - The small size is perfect. It cooks one very large or two smaller panini, and it doesn't take up a ton of counter space. It's small enough that I can leave it out all the time, which makes it a lot more convenient to use. One thing to be careful of: The lid does get hot. Make sure you only use the handle for opening and closing. I wouldn't let younger kids work the grill by themselves. I have not tried cooking meat with the grill. We use it strictly as a panini grill. I don't generally get excited about kitchen appliances, but this little grill is downright fun. Any gadget that can get my teenagers psyched about going to the grocery store to find wacky things they can turn into grilled sandwiches is a hit in my book. (BTW, our favorite sandwiches so far are: tomato and fresh mozzarela with basil pesto; chicken, apple, and raspberry with provolone; and pear with brie. My apologies if I'm not spelling some of these foods right.) Great purchase. Getting used more heavily than our stove. I'm hooked.

Cuisinart Griddler Jr. Review by Kath 63 in St., Louis, MO

I have had my Cuisinart Griddler Jr. for about a month and I love it. I have made breakfast paninis, lunch paninis and dinner paninis and they have all turned out great. My husband says everything I make in the Griddler makes my old recipes taste better! The cookbook that came with the Griddler Jr. has limited recipes so I purchased another one from Amazon titled "200 Best Panini Recipes" by Tiffany Collins. It is the best panini recipe book I have found so far and well worth the money. The Griddler works much better for paninis than my old George Foreman. The floating lid makes it easy to cook thick sandwiches and it heats up faster and is much hotter than the Foreman so food takes less time to cook. It is a breeze to clean, especially because of the removable cook plates, although I do not put them in the dishwasher. Some of the cookbook authors suggest that it is better to clean them by hand. My daughter was so impressed with the Griddler that she purchased on too. I would definitely recommend it to anyone, especially working people who are short on time.

Great Features, Great Value

This has all the features of the high end models with the added bonus of a small footprint. It does it all and takes up very little counter space. Also, we paid less than $80 for it which is a tremendous value for something with these features and quality construction.

Perfect size, Perfect look, Perfect Grill

I really like this little grill. It works just as you might hope it would and it's not too big (doesn't take up too much counter space, you know, like all the other appliances you have put away in the cupboard) and what's nice about that is you can leave it out and actually use it. It's super easy to clean - not only is the surface truly non-stick (some say they are, but try to clean them!) but the griddle surfaces snap out easily for cleaning. The unit heats up quickly and evenly and it's brushed stainless steel exterior matches everything in our kitchen from the fridge to the dishwasher. I can't say enough good things about this little guy - except that I bought it here on Amazon for quite a bit less than it's currently advertised for. Watch the price, it varies from as low as $59 to as high as $99.

best indoor grill so far
Date: 2005-11-21 | Rating: 5
I have tried the Villaware Uni panini grill, the Delonghi open countertop grill and another panini type grill (approx $90), and returned them all (ouch, those return shipping charges hurt). I never considered the Geroge Foreman grills because they always felt cheaply made to me, not to mention many unfavorable reviews). None of the grills/panini presses that I tried got hot enough to work well for me. They just did not grill as much as steam, bake cook the food, and they all took a longer time to do so than I was willing to wait. I never was bothered by cleanup, though. I always just wipe the hot plates with wet paper towel, let it then cool a bit, and wash with wet sponge. Works on them all. So I just gave up and bought some stovetop grill pans and have used them for the past year or so. They do get as hot as you want but you do have to turn the food to cook both sides. Being a kitchen appliance junkie, I decided to try the Cuisinart Griddler this year. I love the size (great for just 2 people, though) as I do not anticipate using it in the full open position. And it is handsome as handsome can be to me. Very commercial looking on a very small scale. (I was chef/owner of a restaurant for 13 years.) And cleanup is easy. Although I still use the wet paper towel and sponge for immediate cleanup, the removable plates (very easy to take off and put back on) make washing in sink or dishwasher other options, Although the plates are nonstick, it is best to use vegetable spray or oil on the food (I prefer this rather than spraying the whole plate.) There are 3 controls--griddle temperature selector, on/off to select either griddle or panini/grill, and panini/grill temperature selector. There is no timer so there is a small learning curve to learn when your food is cooked. Expect to overcook many things at first as the griddler really cooks quickly. There's a short electrical cord, about 34" usable length. Solid construction. Hinged top does settle squarely on the food. Because there the griddler is flat with no slope like the Foreman and other grills, vegetables will not roll off or toward the front. It takes about 5 minutes to preheat and then, wow, it really grills. Salmon took just 3 minutes. I overcooked my halved zuchinni in just a few minutes. You can hear the instant sizzle sound but don't go to far away as it cooks more quikly than you might be used to. We don't eat fatty meats (like burgers) so I cannot comment on the grease/drip factor but with fish, seafood, chicken and vegetables, there is absolutely no splatter. It can cool down quickly if left open, a disadvantage while cooking but an advantage for cleaning. Again, the most important factor for me was how hot the grill got (and quickly as well) This, of course, leads to perfect grilling on both sides. I just love my griddler. Shelly

Grease spatters? A little common sense solves the problem.
Date: 2005-12-03 | Rating: 5
We have had good luck with Cuisinart products over the years, so we decided to try this one, mostly based on the large number of favorable reviews here at Amazon. Clean-up is a dream. This product has an excellent non-stick surface, and even burned-on food comes right off with minimal effort. After reading the critique about the grease spattering all over, I tried a small experiment. I cooked salmon filets, marinated with lemon juice, dillweed and olive oil. No problem. I cooked boneless skinless chicken breasts, also marinated with olive oil. No problem. So then I brought in the Big Guns - skin-on bone-in chicken thighs, marinated and cooked the same way as the breasts. It did make a mess. I cooked all of the above on High, however. The problem came from the fat in the skin, and the thickness of the meat - the lid sits farther open, so more splatters can escape. How to solve the problem? Put a couple of paper towels on the counter, and cook the meat at Medium. Just with any kitchen tool, there is an effective way to use it, and a dumb way to use it. A little common sense goes a long way. I am extremely happy with this grill. _____ Update: September 2008. I am still constantly using this grill - it's a winner.

The best yet.

After two Foreman grills over the past 6 years (the non-stick surface eventually wore down) I purchased "The Griddler". Only time will tell if this unit stands up to repeated washing and "scraping" with plastic utensils. It is all it claims on the tv infomercial. Because it has a thermostat and variable temps, it cooks much quicker then my previous Foreman grill. (Yes, some Foreman's have a thermostat). Set up is easy. Since the plates are made of aluminum, they heat evenly and over the entire surface. The person who complained about uneven heating either has a defective unit or simply did not wait long enough or put the temp at the suggested level. Sometimes it's in the DNA - not reading or following directions! It is a good-looking appliance in the retro design. Amazon.com has the best price with the $25 immediate rebate. Highly recommended.

This really works!!

After reading all the reviews, I bought this over any other brand and I've not been disappointed! It cooks FAST! Nearly overcooked my first batch of boneless skinless chicken breasts the very first time I used it. After using only two times, I have some tips for the people who had a huge spatter mess, plus other tips: 1. Buy leaner hamburger--I used 16% fat (not my favorite one to use) & the mess was very minimal. If you use regular grind hamburger you're going to get a lot more grease mess. 2. Turn the heat down a little so it doesn't pop & sizzle so much. 3. Make sure your work surface is level!! Most countertops and/or stovetops are not as level as the day they were first installed (maybe they never were). If need be, put something under the leg(s) to make it level. Grease running out the back is not the fault of the appliance, it's a level surface issue. 4. If doing more than one cooking round, as I did, you need to scrape the "drippings" off & since you can't do that with the supplied plastic scraper tool (I tried once & got some melted plastic on grill, but came right off with washing), buy a "SwitchIt" by Chef'n. It's silicone & won't melt on your grill. Use the narrow end. This takes a few minutes to do, but it won't smoke so bad on multiple cooking rounds. I have yet to come up with anything better to clean off the hot grill slots. 5. Clean plates up in hot, soapy water with a Scotch Brite No Scratch Scrub Pad (the wavy blue one). It was what was recommended for my glass cooktop, so I know it doesn't scratch. 6. Make sure meats/veggies, etc. are all same thickness. If they're not, the upper grill plate will contact the thickest one, but not the thinest. Depending on meat, you can use a meat mallet & make cuts of meat more uniform. If cooking more than one round, you can "pair up" like thicknesses. In short, with a few simple precautions listed above, I am most impressed with this appliance. How long the non-stick surface will last is anybody's guess--only time will tell. I wish they had joined up with Swiss Diamond & put their fused, diamond non-stick on (check it out people--best nonstick on the market! Safe for dishwasher & metal utensils & lifetime warranty & they mean every word). Only one thing I would change about the design of this appliance: a higher lip at the back. I have found that when trying to remove food off the grill it will slide to the rear & fall off when trying to use a silicone turner. My solution: buy a pair of silicone coated tongs to remove food instead of a nylon or silicone turner. It should work better. All the products mentioned above can be found right here on this website. Happy (& healthier) grilling all! 1/10/2008 Update: Still going great and I do use it regularly, especially in late fall, winter & early spring. I have read some other reviews where the non-stick bubbled or peeled off, but this hasn't happened to mine...not even a scratch mark on the plates. And I have used it many, many times on the highest grill setting: sear.

i am lovin this item. in another review, there is a complaint that it only has one surounding heat coil on both sides. that doesn't matter. this thing heats evenly. this morning i cooked bacon, eggs, and pancakes almost all at the same time. and everything was nicely cooked and delicious. then i took the cooking platforms right off and thoroughly cleaned it in soapy water. something i can't do with my george forman(which is still a nice product, just wish i could submerge it instead of just wiping it off). this item came to me by way of ups with out any additional outer packaging. never the less, it was not damaged during shipping. this item does and is everything it says to be on informecial. no smokey flavor, but i hear i only need liquid smoke to give it that bbq flavor. it's also pretty nifty looking. with this amazon deal, i got free shipping, no tax charge, and an extra $25 off. i got it for only a total of $105.

J'adore ma petit panini grill! Or something like that.

I feel like I am back on the streets of Paris every time I plug in my beautiful Cuisinart Panini and Sandwich Press. This press makes the best grilled cheese sandwich you ever ate, I guarantee it. I love how you can stick a whole hoagie roll or chunk of french bread loaf with sandwich makings inside into it and squish it into a hot & yummy hunk of cheese-oozong goodness. Or, you can use regular bread and make toasty club sandwiches or grilled cheese. This guy hangs out in the cupboard and is easy to pull out, just plug in and wait for the green light to come on. You can have a quick french dip dinner ready in 5 minutes that everyone will love- also perfect for grilled cheese and tomato soup night- or just want to make some garlic bread to go with your spaghetti without heating up the whole oven? I LOVE my panini press. It is really easy to clean- although I haven't tried grilling meats or anything beyond sandwiches and bread. Gooey cheese comes off easily and the whole thing wipes down quickly with a damp washcloth. Elvis would have died over the peanut butter and banana sandwiches we make in this baby! The frying pan's got nothin' on our Panini Press.

Panini anyone? You know it!

Normally I'm not one to go crazy over kitchen appliances but I am compelled to sing the praises of this little wonder. This is sad, but my wife and I eat grilled cheese sandwiches a couple of nights a week because we love them so much. It's sort of our dirty little secret. This little miracle has opened up a whole new universe of possibilities. Our old-style Salton grilled-cheese maker would invariable push the top slice of bread out from the rest of the sandwich because of the operation of the hinge, and forget about putting anything in there other than bread and a couple of slices of cheese because it couldn't handle the thickness. With the GR-1 though, you can put a Dagwood-sized sandwich (the floating hinge allows HUGE sandwiches) in and in just a few minutes, the weight of the top plate has compressed the whole thing into a critical mass of concentrated goodness. Anything I can put between two piecs of bread is becoming a panini these days. This will probably take five years off of my life because I have doubled my weekly consumption of molten cheese, but it's worth it.

Ignore the cost and go for it!

After reading the reviews of similar products and this one and knowing that I'm always disappointed when I go for the cheap stuff, I bought this one. I am SO glad I did. My son has been a big fan of grilled cheese sandwiches for 5 years now and it's not slowing down. I hate getting out the frying pan (and the butter) and making them the old-fashioned way. With the Cuisinart, I don't have to use butter. The taste is still great! My son gives it a thumbs up. Plus in less time than it takes me to make one the old-fashioned way I can make two. And my son can use it too. It's so easy, just put the cheese in the bread, wait for the green light, put the sandwich on the griddler and watch it do all the work. I've experimented with other kinds of sandwiches and they all turn out perfectly. I even use it to do quesadillas and heat up fish sticks. It works and makes them crunchy. Plus it doesn't heat up the whole house like the oven does.

Since purchasing this Panini grill, I can honestly say I cannot live without it!...This grill is used in our home on a daily basis to create the most wonderful, non greasy sandwich delights....there is no need to coat the bread with any type of oils to acheive wonderous results. The size of this grill is ideal, as storage and cleaning are a snap. Pair the grill with the book "Simple Italian Sandwiches", also purchased on Amazon at the same time, and you do it all....the combination is a must....5 stars
